1.  What are some common symptoms of MS?

  • Weakness, fatigue, tingling, numbness, vision problems, tremors, stiffness and cognitive problems (See, I'm NOT a dumb blonde!)

2.  What are the different types of MS?

  • There are 4 types of MS: Relapsing-Remitting MS, Primary-Progressive MS, Secondary-Progressive MS, and Progressive-Relapsing MS

3.  What are the different medications for MS?

  • Avonex - An intermuscular injection once a week
  • These next medications are interferons that are sub-q (or subcutaneous, where the syringe is placed directly into the skin ) 
  • Beta Seron - An injection once every other day (I was on this for the last 4 years)
  • Copaxone - An injection every day (I took this my 1st year)
  • Rebif - An injection 3 times a week
  • Tysabri - An infusion once a month (my current medication!)

4.  What effect does weather have on people with MS?

  • Most people suffering from MS do not function well in the heat - I used to LOVE running in the hottest weather possible, but now I workout on my elliptical inside a cool environment. 

5.  How close are they to finding a cure for MS?

  • Researchers are really making progress with finding a cure for MS.  I have a feeling it may even be in my lifetime!
